As educators, our overarching goal is that our students will become prosperous members of society. In order to achieve this goal, teachers must give students key elements that they can carry with them throughout their lives. Problem solving is an astonishing way to portray key elements that students need to become productive members of society. Problem solving not only opens the door to a unique lesson within the classroom, but allows students to collaboratively work together to achieve the same goal of owning their own knowledge. Mathematics is a subject that challenges students mind to think abstractly and creatively. It holds the basic underlying elements that are portrayed through problem solving.
